The Merits of Analogue Activities in an Accelerated Digital World

This Saturday afternoon, I found myself over at my friend’s place, playing board games over tea. It was my first time attending one of their regular board game sessions, and I was excited to see what it was all about.

As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by a group of smiling faces and the sound of laughter. My friend explained the rules of the game we were playing, and we quickly got started.

I was immediately impressed by how much fun I was having. The game was challenging but rewarding, and I was enjoying the camaraderie of my fellow players. We laughed and joked as we played, and I felt myself relaxing and de-stressing.

After a few hours of playing, we took a break for tea and snacks. This gave us a chance to chat and get to know each other better. I learned that many of the players had been attending these board game sessions for years, and they had formed a close-knit community.

I was so grateful for the opportunity to experience this board game session. It was a refreshing change from my usual routine, and it was a great way to connect with others and have fun. I’m already looking forward to the next one!

Pause for reflection:

As I reflect on this experience, I realize that it’s important to find balance in our lives. Digital devices have many benefits, but it’s important to take breaks from them and engage in analogue activities as well. Going analogue can help us to slow down, connect with others, and be more creative. It can also help to reduce stress and improve our overall well-being.

If you’re looking for ways to go analogue, here are a few ideas:

  • Turn off your digital devices for a set period of time each day.
  • Spend time in nature.
  • Read a book.
  • Play board games or card games with friends and family.
  • Write in a journal.
  • Do arts and crafts.
  • Cook or bake from scratch.
  • Take a walk or hike.
  • Meditate or do yoga.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. Experiment and find activities that you enjoy and that make you feel good.
