This trip wasn’t just about exploring a new city; it was a pilgrimage of sorts, a way to celebrate my father’s love for China.

My dad, a man who cherished the rich tapestry of Chinese culture, instilled in me a deep fascination for the country. He’d regale me with stories of his travels, his eyes gleaming with wonder as he described the bustling markets, the scenic landscape, and the delectable cuisine. The city hadn’t forgotten its roots. A visit to the majestic Guangzhou Library, with its towering stacks and hushed reverence, transported me to a bygone era. While time constraints prevented me from exploring the architectural marvel of the Guangzhou Opera House, designed by the legendary Zaha Hadid, I couldn’t resist capturing its futuristic silhouette from afar.

Guangzhou wasn’t just about technology and modernization. It was a city that buzzed with a vibrant cultural and artistic scene. At the Fang Suo Commune, a unique concept space, I stumbled upon a book launch and a perfume appreciation session happening simultaneously within a bookstore. The air hummed with conversation and intellectual curiosity, all fueled by delicious coffee and light bites from the in-house cafe.

No trip to Guangzhou would be complete without indulging in its famous cuisine and vibrant shopping scenes. (Though, I must admit, it did leave me with a slight headache!)
