Hi Everyone! I am back with another slice of life from this active (and sometimes bewildered) aging journey. Lately, my brain has been spinning faster than a disco ball – and no, it’s not just from reliving my Abba and Bee Gees CDs days (though those tunes do tend to invigorate!). I’ve been wrestling with the big questions: How do we, as vibrant individuals over 50, future-proof ourselves in a world being rapidly reshaped by AI and climate change?
Adapting to AI
From CDs to Streaming:
Growing up, music was everything. My cassettes were treasured possessions, followed by a hefty investment in CDs during my career peak. Remember those days? Spending freely? Ah, simpler times! While I was an early adopter of Spotify (the paid version, naturally!), I resisted the siren call of Netflix and Prime for a while, clinging to my trusty cable subscription.
Now, my CD collection is a bittersweet reminder of those years. I’m slowly phasing out the less-loved discs, but I’m keeping the keepers! I envision myself streaming and occasionally dusting off those cherished CDs for a truly immersive listening experience. It’s a bit like how vinyl has made a comeback, isn’t it? A nod to the past with a foot firmly planted in the future.

AI in Daily Life:
Having been in the media industry, I’ve seen every wave of technological change, from print to digital, and now AI. It’s fascinating how AI has transformed content creation, consumption, and even personal finance management.
I now use AI tools to delve into stock analysis, something that would have been much more complex without today’s technology. This not only aids in making informed financial decisions but also keeps me engaged with the evolving tech landscape.
Who knew this old dog could learn new tricks?

Adapting to Climate Change Without Sacrificing Style
Living in Hotter Climates: The Need for Thoughtful Fashion Choices
Living in Singapore and Bangkok means constantly battling the heat. It’s practically summer year-round! Climate change is a very real thing here. So, I’ve made a conscious decision to only buy clothes made from breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. Comfort is queen!
Sustainability in Daily Living: Small Changes, Big Impact
And speaking of conscious decisions, I’m also committed to buying at least half of my new clothes from secondhand stores. It’s a great way to save money, find unique pieces, and do my part for the environment. Plus, it’s a lot more fun than battling the crowds at the mall!

Lessons Learned: Balancing Nostalgia with Progress
Looking back over the decades, I realize how much things have evolved—from cassette tapes to CDs, from cable TV to Netflix, from print magazines to AI-driven content creation. Yet, even as the world transforms around us, certain truths remain constant:
- Change is inevitable. Whether it’s technology or climate, adaptation isn’t optional; it’s essential.
- Progress doesn’t mean abandoning the past entirely. There’s wisdom in holding onto what works while embracing what’s new.
- Small actions matter. Whether it’s using AI responsibly or shopping sustainably, individual choices add up.
So, as I continue navigating life post-50, I remind myself to stay curious, open-minded, and proactive. Yes, the pace of change can feel dizzying, but it’s also an opportunity—to learn, grow, and redefine what “active aging” truly means.
